Dominick Dalessio served aboard the USS Haraden DD-585. The destroyer was hit by a kamikaze in December 1944, while on patrol in the Sulu Sea, Philippines. Sixteen men were lost in that attack.

I (Bob Meli) spoke to Dominick Dalessio at a VFW meeting at the Troast Club in Hackensack on February 9, 2011.
 
Dominick Dalessio told me he went to
Hackensack High School for one year or tenth grade. 

Dominick Dalessio served on board the USS Haradin 545 and was the ship's Laundryman 3rd Class. Dominick was in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, our conversation was brief and he did not mention the theater of operation. 

Dominick Dalessio was 87 years old when we spoke and his brother,
John Dalessio, who was at the meeting also, was 91 years old at the time.
